DUBAI | Fri Aug 2, 2013 8:01am EDT

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iranian state television said on Friday reports quoting Iran's president-elect Hassan Rouhani as calling Israel a "wound that ... needs to be removed" were distorted.

"News agencies distort Iran pres-elect Rohani's remarks on Quds Day," said a breaking news caption on Press TV. There were no further details.

Earlier on Friday, Iranian news agencies reported that cleric Rouhani - who will be inaugurated on Sunday - had described the Zionist regime as "a wound that has sat on the body of the Muslim world for years and needs to be removed".

He didn't say ISRAEL, he said the Zionist regime! I would say many Israelis would even agree! The regime with their unregistered nuclear weapons and the politics of settlements in regions that are already in dispute is a disgrace for the many peaceful people in the country. Jews and Palestinians and several other people share this land for thousands of years but the last 40 have caused many wars and armed conflicts – so get rid of the weapons and get back to peace! At least start to seriously consider workable solutions and stop the aggression on both sides!

The Iranian rhetoric will never change regardless of who is president. The president is nothing more than a figurehead and a grunt for the inner circle of clerics/"grand Ayatollah" that runs the country. Anyone who expected anything different from Iran is a fool. Their "elections" are no less choreographed than a Broadway show. Look at the green movement, and the brutal crackdown that all but wiped out the last hope of regime change short of full-scale war. These guys are actively working on nukes, and the only goal they had with these elections were to distract the more silly western nations (see: most of Europe) and get them to reduce sanctions.

Imagine that, the Iranians in the spirit of the anti Christ, (instead of Christ), calls for the removal of Israel. The US and Northern European nations, (the lost ten northern tribes of Israel), should call for the removal of the heathen Iran from the world and the Palestinians from Israel, they don't belong there. They can take that abomination of Desolation sitting on the Holy site with them.
